Just want to recommend the Cypress Inn for several reasons....we got a great special rate, appetizers and wine in the evening, dessert and coffee later in the night, a healthy breakfast the next morning and the ocean roaring right outside our room. This place had everything we needed for a quick get away. The room was small, but clean, with a comfortable bed, and tall deck chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Lastly, the staff was always friendly and accommodating, even calling me to let me know I left something in the room. While the bathroom was a little dated, that really didn't matter. Half Moon Bay is a wonderful place to visit and Cypress Inn is worth a try if you need a place to stay.

My husband and I have stayed at this B&B twice, both times for our anniversary. The staff is SO nice, friendly and helpful. Most of the rooms have an ocean view, although the back building's views are obstructed. The second building across the street is the best, in our opinion. The breakfasts, and evening appetizers with wine were fantastic. We will certainly return again!

This is a really cute place in a nice quiet location. The folks that run the place really know how to make you feel welcome and I really had a nice time.

I just stayed at this Inn and I have to say I loved it and that some of the past reviews are misleading. It is very clean though the decor in some rooms are pretty outdated. That usually bothers me, but because it was clean, I got over it. And, well, it really wasn't that bad. I wouldn't go as far to say it was like a Motel 6... it isn't nearly that bad. The view was absolutely breathtaking... so it made up for the interior look. You can hear the waves crashing all night long because you are just feet from the shoreline, which I loved. If you don't like to have the ocean put you to sleep, then obviously don't get a beach front room. Since it is a Bed and Breakfast, they offered wine and appetizers in the main lobby in the evening which is cool. We had champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries brought up in the later evening and the champagne was pretty good and strawberries were yummy. We also had our complimentary breakfast brought up to our room and it was homemade and REALLY good. The innkeeper and employees were all very friendly and helpful. All and all, I would have to give this place 4 stars, would be 5 stars if all the rooms were decorated a bit better.

We had no reservations and they were booked when we drove up. We gave them our cell number and they called to state that there was a last minute cancel. We were already booked at Beach House. The customer service and room were very good. The room was good, but not great, since it was last second and this was the last room available. We will be back, they have great specials during the week and off season. It is right on the coast and you have an ocean view, but no beach. The wine hour is great, excellent choices and apps are very good as well. They include breakfast and snack, that are very tasty, you could easily pay $15-20 for the breakfast in a restauarant and it is more or less all quality. I will be back, but in another room, I enjoyed my stay and they even extended us some special pricing at check in.

My husband and I organized a wedding block at the Cypress when we got married down the block (ceremony at the Hastings House and reception at the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, which were also great). Staying at the Cypress was a nice luxurious treat for many of our out-of-town guests AND people from both sides of the family enjoyed getting to know each other over breakfast, since the lobby area where breakfast is served is a really pleasant place to hang out. Even though the inn is managed as part of a larger corporate chain, it feels cozy and not pre-fab. For a little privacy, my husband and I stayed the Point Sur room, which was in a different building from the rest of the crowd. The Point Sur isn't their ultra-ritzy penthouse suite, but it was definitely lux enough for us. I mean, if you wake up to the sound of the ocean, what's not to love?

Stayed a short while back with a friend, lots of work going on in the place. I'm giving it 4 stars versus 3 assuming the fixes they promised actually arrived. The location is wonderful if you're in the mood to get away. The main building was charming if not a bit too 80's; but that was going away with the moderenization. We stayed on the top floor (Las Nubes) that had sweeping views didn't really want to leave! The furnishings were sparse; fror instance we didn't have a couch in our room which was a suite, but we made do. (this was part of the promised improvements) The staff was very nice, it was good to meet the other guests but not feel like your staying at grandma's place. We intend to go back and make it our half moon hideaway.

We stayed at the Cypress inn for our anniversary a couple of years ago, and had an amazing time. Right on the water in Half Moon Bay and a short walk from the Miramar Beach Restaurant, it's a nice getaway if you don't have time to travel far from San Francisco. The room included a great jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and a patio overlooking the ocean, not to mention the fantastic breakfast they delivered to the room in the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful too.

I tend to shy away from B&B's because so many of them seem over the top frilly. The Cypress Inn is a great exception. The decor is more Mexican hacienda on the beach than grandma's beach house. The floors are all tile, the rooms have nice fireplaces, and most of the rooms have views of the ocean. The breakfast was good (french toast, bacon & sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal, etc) and served buffet style in the lobby area.

We reserved the best room in the main building. Top floor with a private balcony and amazing views. We have stayed here in the past-but it was close to 8 years ago. I was disappointed that more had not been done to keep up the property. The back side of the bathroom door looked as if an animal had tried to scratch its way out & the sink had a ring of rust. Although you it would be hard to beat the proximity to the beach and the lulling sound of the waves pounding on the shore. I had hoped to salvage our feeling with what we had remembered from our past which was their breakfast. Unfortunately, even though we had requested room delivery for 9am-no one called or came up to our room and by 930 we went downstairs. The inn keeper said that she was getting our tray ready-but there was no food on it still. Unfortunately-during our stay I guess they only had 1 griddle/pan/burner and could only prepare pancakes for 1 person at a time. So first I could eat- as my husband watched-then he got to eat & I could watch him eat, about 10 minutes between each pancake delivery. Somewhat of a disappointment for the cost of our stay-and from our past experience- I had higher hopes. They need to consider investing more $$ back into their property to keep it competitive for the area and to keep people like us coming back. For the cost of our stay- we could have stayed at the Ritz down the road. We would be willing to stay here again, but hope a renovation is in the future for this property.

My husband and I went here for our 20th anniversary. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The wine and appetizers were very nice. The breakfast was much more than continental. We stayed in the Maverick room, which is one of the rooms that needs to be updated, but the view was superb. We watched seals, porpoises, and birds fish from our deck. We also were able to take a couple of walks on the beach as well as walk to dinner, which they made our reservation for in order to insure we had a window seat. Although the room needed some paint and caulk around the tub it was clean and well furnished. The staff informed us all rooms are getting make overs and ours was one that was in the works. The sound of the waves could be heard all night which helps with the romantic mood we were looking for. If you are looking for a romantic get away this place should be looked into. This is definitely a place we will go back to even though we only live 1 hour away.

Just came home from a one night get away to Half Moon Bay. We have been making day trips here for years, but never stayed overnight. Our friends recommended the Cypress Inn, and sent us a coupon for a mid week discount. We stayed in the main building, upstairs in El Viento. The room was a little small, but well appointed and cozy. Same with the bathroom. The room had a gas fireplace, coffee maker, large TV, sitting area and deck with chairs. Check in went well, the gentleman at the front desk was very kind, helpful and humorous. We brought our bikes - the bike path starts almost right outside the door - and enjoyed the beautiful coast. Back in the room, I saw something big in the water, whales! Several were in front of the Inn, not far from shore. They gave us quite a show, with several breaches. We met some nice people at the wine and appetizer gathering, then walked down the road for dinner. Very comfortable bed, loved falling asleep to the ocean waves. We had the choice of going downstairs for breakfast, or having it delivered to our room. We chose to have it delivered, and it was delicious! We will absolutely return to the Cypress Inn!

We absolutely loved this charming, quiet getaway. The view of the ocean was beautiful, and it was relaxing to hear the soft waves outside, instead of the traffic of Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay (where many of the hotels are). Our room had wonderful features, such as tasteful decor, bathrobes, a flat-screen TV, coffee-maker, jacuzzi, and an extremely comfortable and clean, plush bed. We had breakfast delivered to our room (at no extra cost), which was delicious: two kinds of quiche, croissants, fresh seasonal fruit, orange juice, a smoothie, and coffee! All included in the cost of our stay! We felt we were getting five-star treatment without five-star prices.

We fell in love with this place from the second we pulled up! After sorting through all the reviews of several places within a two-hour drive from San Jose, for an overnight getaway, spanning from Carmel to Mendocino, Yosemite to Santa Cruz, The Cypress Inn Hotel on Miramar Beach seemed to be the best bang for the buck. We then went hunting on several different booking sites, and booked the sweetest price through Expedia. Reg was so accommodating and welcomed my girlfriend and I in like old friends. He took a look at the "inventory" upon our arrival, and offered to upgrade our room to one with a jacuzzi tub big enough for two, refrigerator & a better view! Wonderful! We ordered our breakfast and picked when we'd have it delivered. Reg met us up in the room and made sure that we located all the comforts of the room, and showed us the gas lit fire place. We stayed in the Point Madera room, which is full of so much character, with exposed beams and stone accents -- definitely not your standard, bland chain hotel look. Uncomplicated, rustic meets modern design that is really enjoyable! In the morning, we were brought an amazing breakfast of eggs florentine, fresh seasonal fruit, croissants and coffee, promptly at our requested time of 930am. We enjoyed breakfast by the fire, with the windows open so we could hear the waves and smell the fresh ocean air. Such a lovely way to start the day! The previous evening, we stopped about 7 minutes up the road at New Leaf Community market for our essential morning mimosa "ingredients", as well as all the snacks we wanted for the beach later the next day. (New Leaf is exactly like Whole Foods, but a smaller chain...it's darling - but there's a separate review for that!) We requested a late check out of 1 pm, in order to enjoy our morning slowly, sipping our Moscato mimosas on the balcony in the comfy, warm terrycloth robes provided for us. We packed up our cooler, filled it with the complimentary ice from the ice machine across the street, and we were on our way to the beach! The beach directly in front of this quaint little B&B isn't exactly user friendly...it'd be nice to walk along, but it's kind of a steep decline of boulders down from the road to get to it. I cant imagine carrying too much down those rocks, let alone back up them. The water hits the cliff during high tide and there's little to no beach, so because we wanted to really camp out and enjoy our day on the beach (beach umbrella, table, frisbee and all!), we opted to drive 5 minutes up the road (in the same direction towards New Leaf), and check out Venice Beach...what a wonderful little beach...yep, worthy of its own review! Overall, the staff, the suite, the scene, and the sanctuary of this place is impressive. From the moment we checked out, we've been talking about returning soon for more than just a night, so we can really enjoy all that The Cypress Inn, and Half Moon Bay, has to offer! Not only that, but I'm going to refer my friends and family to stay here if they are ever looking for a romantic weekend getaway within an hour's drive from San Jose! Thank you for everything, Reg, and everyone at The Cypress Inn! :)

Very pleasant large B&B right on the beach. Spent two nights here this month and enjoyed everything except our room. Actually, the room was fine, it was the location which was in the main building & steps away from the front desk. Think it was La Estrella. Would NEVER stay in that room again...WAY too noisy from all the front desk activities & then again in the morning when they are setting up for breakfast. I'd also choose to have an upstairs room...whoever was above us seemed to be rearranging the furniture most of the night! With all floors being tile, the noise travels excessively. On the positive side, the staff was welcoming and very pleasant. The full breakfast was absolutely fabulous! As we were a group of six, we ate in the main room, but it seemed most people opted to have their breakfast delivered to the room. At 5:00 pm, they have happy hour with excellent wine and a very complete appetizer selection. Quite impressive. This is not an inexpensive place....do ask for any discounts (AAA, AARP, etc.) as they seem to discount readily if you ask...in person. I would call to make reservations so you can be specific about room selections.

What a gem of a B&B at Half Moon Bay. We weren't willing to pay the ridiculous prices at the Ritz, so after finding this place as the top B&B HMB has to offer, we gave it a try. The innkeeper was so friendly on the phone when booking, and gave us a discount for booking right away. We read the Lighthouse rooms were newer and also breakfast is still delivered to them, so we settled on the Point Reyes on the second floor. Wow--the views in the room are pretty amazing. You get complete views of the Pacific, and another window full of light to view the street and water. The ceilings are high and carpet is very clean. In front of the bed is a hot tub with fan ventilation, and in the room is also a couch/seating area with a gas insert fireplace. The bathroom is on the dated and smaller side relative to the rest of the modern room( white tiling, white cabinets with some dust and mold in nooks) but the shower stall was very clean and we never felt cramped cause the room itself was big to walk out to. You get all the organic soaps you need (no sticky after-feel lotion, yay!!), plenty of fresh towels, a hair dryer (clean and works well), keurig machine, fridge with two bottles of water daily and two iPod enabled alarm clocks. The TV is mounted and gives you Direct TV. Wireless was solid and never gave me issues. Also, the highlight amenity: breakfast tray delivered starting at 8:15! You can choose from coffee (OK), smoothies, fresh croissants, the breakfast of the day (all were so tasty, including peaches french toast and crab Benedict!), fresh fruit bowls cut up for you, and the morning paper. It's a pretty nice way to start the day in your room when HMB is just waking up. We loved eating by the fire and labrador/people watching. Also enjoyed the citrus infused water in the lobby and extra croissants and baked goodies we could take. Housekeeping was great, they kept giving us more toiletries to use and you can rest assured to leave your things out safely. We hardly used the patio as it was a bit narrow (the width of its table and seats) and chilly in July. We luckily got breaks in the clouds around noon, which gave us time to walk down the well paved trail and soak in the Pacific air. This is a great option for those who love getting away to quiet, Oceanside views. Sleeping to the waves was amazingly soothing. And, to not have to leave your room in the morning for food is pretty darn relaxing. It's not "Ritzy" where you find every nook and cranny spotless and dustless, but it is homey, well decorated and affordable for whats here in HMB. You get the amenities of a hotel in a B&B setting.

We just returned from 2 nights in the El Mar room. I found this place by accident and so glad I did. I 1st booked on Expedia and got a partial ocean view room. My itinerary said no need to call to make sure reservation is made. But I called 1 week prior to make sure. Nice lady Dinah answered and verified I did indeed have resection and that it was partial ocean view. She mentioned she had one ocean view room left and since I was AAA there was a discount. 269 a night for ocean view. I was paying 185 a night for no ocean view. I did the change and am so extremely happy with the room we had. Ocean view is the best. Even though the room is right outside the lobby and you can hear them getting the wine and appetizer social ready it was still a great room and experience. When we return I most likely will get 2nd floor ocean view. We did hear our upstairs neighbor walking and when in the shower. But all in all we had a wonderful 2 days staying here. Great little mini getaway not too far from home. Also the price of room includes FULL breakfast in lobby or delivered to room. Very yummy. Also wine and appetizer social with nightly dessert. Well worth it. Can't wait for our next trip to this wonderful B&B

Theee cutest mini getaway any couple can ever ask for. This place is very friendly, welcoming, and the service is prompt. Not to mention, prices are reasonable. My boyfriend and I stayed a weekend here for our anniversary and we loved it. Btw the front desk man (with the white beard sorry i forgot his name) is adorable.

We stayed in the Las Nubes room, and couldn't have had a better view. From the full-length picture window, you can see from one end of Half Moon Bay all the way to the other. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing was SO peaceful. The room was very well maintained, spacious, and even in JUNE,..we used the fireplace. (GREAT ambiance...listening to the waves crash out the window curled up by the fire....). The room decor is NOT your "typical upscale hotel room" style, which is a really GOOD thing. One gets tired of rooms that could be any hotel chain. It was a welcome change to have a room with character. (our breakfast was quiche...very tasty!) One last comment... we agree with previous posts...bring a jacket/jeans if you go in June. Temps during our stay were in the low 60's with a stiff breeze, and the fog was so thick in the morning that it felt like it was raining. You'll be glad to have the protection.

We stayed in El Mar and got the romance package. The view from the room was fantastic and was really close to some nice restaurants. The staff was very nice but the best part of this inn is the food. Included in the cost of the room is a FULL breakfast (we had quiche, smoothie, fruit, and sausage), cheese and crackers with wine in the evening, and desserts at night. Great atmosphere and well worth the few extra dollars the room might cost.

Probably one of the most incredible places Ive ever been as a B&B goes! Amazing staff, happy hour and breakfast to your door! Literally next to the beach and when you open the window you just hear the waves crashing. I recommend it to anybody for a get away, relaxing time.

We stayed at Cypress Inn for two nights on a trip down the coast of California. It was a very convenient and nice place to stay and enjoy the Half Moon Bay area. The rooms are right along the beach and it was calming to hear the crash of the waves all the time. There's a wonderful walking / biking path right outside which you can enjoy day or night. The rooms were clean and spacious, we didn't notice any excess noise from our neighbors or thin walls. Unfortunately, there was a bit of an ant problem....but it didn't bother us too much and it could have been an isolated thing because of the summer months. The staff is extremely nice and they offer a wine / cheese hour in the afternoons in the lobby. Breakfast is also served at the main house, or in bed. We of course opted for in-bed to be as lazy as possible. I would recommend the Cypress Inn if you're looking to spend some time in the Half Moon Bay area and not simply passing through. It's a bit on the pricey side and if you're not going to enjoy all the surrounding things in the area or the quaintness of the Inn, there are cheaper options.

One of my absolute favorite places. Fall asleep to the Pacific Ocean waves in a warm cozy bed and the fireplace going. Wake up to a delicious home made breakfast (today was French toast) that you can bring back to your room and eat while reading the paper...or have it delivered to your room. I have stayed in every room in the "main House." All are just delightful and unique In there own special way. My hubby and I have been coming here for over 15 years and will continue to return!

My husband & I really enjoyed our stay! Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was so relaxing! Breakfast in bed was also a treat! Our room was La Estella, which was very close to the check-in counter & a less private. My advice would be to choose a more private room. The room was also pretty small, but the ocean view made up for it. Nice getaway!

We were visiting from Minnesota for an event and decided to make our trip interesting by renting a car and driving from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay for the night. Our plane was delayed about 4 hours so we didn't get into SF until after midnight, at which point we navigated our way to Half Moon Bay which was an adventure for us Minnesotans to say the least! Cypress Inn was so accommodating getting us our keys in the middle of the night and making us feel welcome. They weren't kidding when they told us 'If you keep driving straight past the Inn, you'll drive right off a cliff into the ocean.' It was breathtaking (even in the dark). Our room was awesome. Very clean, comfy, had a fireplace and a perfect ocean view ..even a spider friend in the bathroom. eek! haha. It was SO amazing waking up to the sound of ocean waves and actually seeing where we were for the first time. Breakfast was so good, I didn't expect that from such a small place. They made everything you could ever want. The staff was really friendly and offered us a late checkout since we got in so late. You can't beat the location of Cypress Inn on Miramar Beach. It's close to a few restaurants and great trails along the beach. Overall an amazing experience. I will definitely stay there again!

Been here twice, both in summer. Great service, great location. A place to get close to Pacific Ocean :) August here a little bit cold in the morning, foggy. Locals were in their winter jacket. July was very nice. The top room: Cielo, is so large and perfect, a huge bath tube, also a terrace where you can have your breakfast. Well the wind is salty. Breakfast here is quite good. You can found restaurants around, convenient, and a half moon bay price.

We splurged for the Point Reyes room which is next to the Maverick room. Ocean view, fireplace, jet tub, king bed and flat screen. Abundant mirrors. Keurig w/ coffee and tea, plus a hidden mini fridge. Room service is offered with breakfast while a breakfast buffet is also offered in the lounge. Wine and cheese in the afternoon then dessert during the evening--we had cheesecake and apple crumble during our stay. I would agree that a few items were outdated like the framed art. (It would be interesting if they framed prints from the photographer down the street.) The bedside radio and alarm clock were only compatible with the old iPod models. Nonetheless, I am still giving 5 stars because to us, these were minor details to our stay that did not change our minds about coming back. BOOK EARLY. Oceanside B& B's fill up quickly.

Wow!!! What a beautiful place and literally right on the beach. The staff was amazing. They serve wine and cheese in the evening and the breakfast was delicious with many options, including room delivery. We stayed in the Naples room. It was very romantic with an in room fire place and a two person jetted tub. We will definitely be making this our beach resort for vacations to come.

Stayed in the Pigeon Point room. Would have stayed in La Estrella, but it felt small and was right off the main lobby... didn't feel right for an anniversary. :) The ocean surf makes the perfect accompaniment to virtually any bed-and-breakfasty activity: reading the Sunday Chronicle, enjoying room service or drifting off to sleep with the sliding door open. There is a road passing between the inn and the beach, which is a little odd if you're on the first floor. But there's not a lot of foot traffic or car traffic, the folks you see are quiet, and you can close it all out by drawing the curtains. There's a relaxing hot tub big enough for one, a shower sized for one and a luxurious king-size bed. Decor is updated, not the usual frilly bed and breakfast fare. Pillows are feather but foam is available on request. They've got a crazy hall of mirrors thing going on in the bathroom. The acoustics also make the fan particularly loud in spots, if that bugs you. In the evening they have cheese, crackers, wine and olives. The bree is quite mild; I probably took enough for 3 or 4 guests. Breakfast is nothing to write home about. Tea is good: Nubé and Market Spice. You can borrow backgammon, Yahtzee, chess, or Monopoly, go old-school with Trivial Pursuit or play cards. The innkeeper said it's always this foggy and cool in June and July; August and September are better. While you're here, try Raman's Coffee and Chai; the chai is truly wonderful. If Raman's closed, there's also Peet's or a cramped Starbucks. Pick up some offbeat health drinks or new agey skin creams at the local New Leaf grocery store, kind of like a Whole Foods. And for a woodsy treat, turn right from Medio onto the main drag, pull over at the first light and walk back the Sheetwood trail between ivy-covered trees to the ocean. Don't blink or you'll miss it. Overall, a little pricey. I don't know that I'd come again, with all that the bay area has to offer. But it was nice-and falling asleep to the sound of the surf was priceless.

I came here on my honeymoon 3 years ago and it was SO beautiful! I loved the scenery outside next to the beach! I loved everything about this and this was a wedding gift from my uncle and aunt since I couldn't afford my dream honeymoon. I'm going back again this coming week to relive our honeymoon for our 3rd anniversary. :D

The staff was very nice and accommodating. They provided early evening horderves and wines by the fire side as well as late night snacks. The following morning we had breakfast in bed. We stayed in the Naples Beach Suite, which is located behind the main house. It is a great location. We took advantage of the romance package and enjoyed the champagne and the special discount, which we used at the Miramar Beach Restaurant (within walking distance). The room has a two person tub, which was also a plus. This is one of the best B&B's in CA. :0)

The location is gorgeous, and the views are incredible. Our main concern was with the (1) cleanliness of the room--what seemed like pet and human hair all over the floors (which was getting stuck to our socks); (2) service--despite letting the front desk know that our bill was wrong a few times, we kept getting overcharged; (3) a crib sheet provided for baby that had gross (and what seemed like fresh) stains on it and when told staff about it, they did not have any other crib sheets available. None of this would be that big of a deal if the prices weren't almost $400/night, for which I had HIGH expectations with regard to cleanliness and service. However, we did enjoy the location and the food!

We spent two days celebrating my husband's birthday and had a very nice time. Our room was the Pillar Point room and I remember reading some concerns about the age and wear of the rooms in this inn but clearly this particular room had been nicely renovated. Everything worked well and it all felt new and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. The staff is warm and the breakfast and evening snack time in the intimate lobby are fun opportunities to meet other guests...or you can just grab a tray and go back to your room. You can also opt for breakfast to be delivered to your room in the a.m. We enjoyed hiking the Pacific Coast Trail that picks up very close by. Spectacular sunsets from the small balcony. Very nice.

The fiancé and I came here last August and stayed in La Lluvia. We loved it and are still talking about this place. We can't wait to go back. Being that I'm originally from So Cal and spent my childhood summers on the beach, the beach is my happy place; it's not too often you'll find an unhappy Jenn at the beach. Half Moon Bay is gorgeous. Cypress Inn is homey and reminds me of grandma and grandpa's house. Food was decent. Customer service was good. Room was a smidge smaller than what we expected, but was clean, pretty, and exactly what is portrayed on their website.

My wife and I stayed here this week for her birthday and were very pleased with the accommodations from parking all the way through checkout. The room was very nicely sized and included a bed, two chairs, table, and good sized bathroom and Keurig coffee maker (nice because that's what I use at home). The bathroom was plenty big enough for both of us to get ready at the same time. The shower was great with plenty of water pressure. From the web site it looks like each room may be different. We were in El Sol. The bed was comfortable though the pillows a little hard for my liking, but fortunately my wife always brings pillows. The best thing was the sliding glass door that opens to a small balcony looking out over the ocean. I could throw a stone and hit the water. It was awesome sleeping with the door open and the sounds of the ocean and cool breeze! I slept very well, unusual for me. I was a little worried about noise in the morning but it was perfectly quiet up until 9 am when we got up. They have a nice dining area in the lobby with coffee where they also serve breakfast (optionally delivered to your room) but we decided to eat at a local restaurant we like. You could easily checkout and walk on the beach and down to Miramar in time for opening. There is a small parking lot but plenty of parking on the street which is where we parked. The location is very easy to find and navigate. Wifi was barely usable, took awhile to even be detected by our iPads and disconnected frequently, but we weren't there to work so it was acceptable. We would definitely come back!

We wanted to stay someplace special for our 20th anniversary and after a lot of googling and yelping decided on the Cypress Inn. Beautiful inn and as close to the ocean as you can possibly get. Sitting our our balcony drinking our wine we watched a school of dolphins swimming not too far out. The staff was friendly and they offer wine and hors d'oeuvres each evening and a great breakfast in the morning. It is not an inexpensive place to stay but we would definitely go back to celebrate special events. The only complaint was the noise from the stairs which I'm guessing had a lot to do with the location of our room. We were right at the base of the stairs on the second floor and in the morning were woken by people going up and down the stairs. Each time we drifted back off to sleep someone else would come stomping down and wake us up again. Otherwise our room was very quiet and we couldn't hear anything from the room next to ours. This wasn't a deal breaker by any means and like I said above, we would definitely go back, but would get a different room.

RELAXATION we mostly stay at B&B's and like to experience new ones when we travel~ this one is special. i want to go back ASAP during our three day stay we saw many of the rooms. we stayed in LA LUNA. it was small but well designed and the location was perfect for us. we liked the convenience of staying in the main building with the waterfront and also on the ground floor. i think it is the EL SOL which is located next to ours~ that was and still be would our preferred choice. the common area may get a bit noisy at night with wild old travelers having a good time with other guests. but, the next morning i did ask a few other people if we were too loud and they said that they did not hear anything but the roar of the waves. not only did we have a wonderful stay but also made 4 good friends while staying at the Cypress Inn

We stayed here last year for our anniversary it was an amazing experience. Awesome view if you stay in the pigeon point. Great service, spacious rooms, fireplace, bathtub and a comfy bed. Not noise at all at night. Definetely coming back for our 2nd anniversary.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location with a staff who pays attention to all the details that make a vacation special! We stayed in the Maverick Room. Things I didn't like about the room: nothing :) Could have a few more choices of breakfast dishes. Things I loved about the room: - Location was phenominal ~ If I weren't already married I would choose this as my honeymoon spot! - Views of the ocean were spectacular! Sunset from our balcony was stunning. We could even see the ocean from the jacuzzi tub! - Comfortable bedding with soft, plush towels and robes. - Decor of the room was very cheerful and pleasant without being over done. Two large TVs were appreciated. Fireplace was warm and cozy. - Staff was friendly and helpful, and they genuinely took interest in making our stay as pleasant as possible. At check-in, you were made to feel welcomed and appreciated. - A great place to begin romantic walks along the beach. Be sure to walk down to the Miramar restaurant two blocks down the beach for a romantic meal over looking the ocean. We even saw a whale during our lunch! I would stay here again and highly reccommend to anyone who was looking to stay anywhere near Half Moon Bay.

The hotel is in a really good location. Close to hikes, activities an even the 92 if you need a quick getaway. Don't hear too much of the fog horn from this locale. Restaurants are a drive. Rooms were nicely furnished and can't complain. We were not new first floor with a great view. Fantastic even. One problem was possibly the service. Just seemed as if they weren't as helpful as they could be. I'm sure at the price point I would not stay again, but I did have a good time

We stayed here as we were having our wedding next door at Hastings House. October is absolutely beautiful, it's warm but there's a cool breeze, little to no fog, just perfect. We slept with the door open so we could hear the ocean all night. We took advantage of the appetizers and breakfast and ended up having a few extra people from our wedding party join us for breakfast which was accommodated without any fuss. The only drawback was that the building was being painted during our time there. They have to do it sometime. I was a little concerned walking in and out by the wet paint on the railings in my nice clothes but we were careful and we were asked to not park in the parking lot for a bit but that was so that our cars would not end up with new paint jobs. There is plenty of other parking. This is a perfect location to stay if you are having an event nearby. The whole wedding party was able to walk over to the wedding site and then back again. Thank you for a great couple of days.

Came here last July for my birthday weekend getaway. We stayed in the Las Nubes (The Clouds) room. I'm not familiar with the other rooms and their locations, but this was a great one for us. It's the only room in the main building, which was convenient for us to get our snacks during our evening wine, appetizer, and dessert times. We loved the huge tub in the room and all the windows. The windows were huge and looked out right to the ocean. The morning we left we actually got to watch a few dolphins swimming by. Staff was old, but friendly. One of the keepers even let us have a brand new bottle of wine to take back to our room. Very nice getaway place.

Great place! great location! We booked this place for a spontaneous over-nighter, and got a beautiful room with an ocean-front balcony (Point Reyes room). We loved falling asleep to the crashing waves and being able to easily walk down to beach to stroll in the mornings. They serve evening wine at Happy Hour, fresh baked cookies before bed (yum!) and they even deliver your breakfast to your room the next morning, if requested. The day we were there was eggs benedict - delish! We will be back.

This Inn is absolutely perfect! There was nothing we did not like or enjoy. We were in the Point Reyes room. It was so clean and truly spoke relaxation. We had a private deck with two chairs and a table over looking the ocean that was right across the road. There was a fireplace to enjoy and jacuzzi tub. The Inn has complimentary wine and horderves and then deserts. Breakfast was great! The staff was the best we have ever encountered. We cannot wait to return!!

Amazing, simply amazing! They treat you like family with their home cooked apps in the evening and breakfasts in the morning and are super accommodating to all their guests needs. We asked if they had a DVD player we could use because we'd just received our wedding video back from our videographers and not only did they have one but they had it installed and ready to go when we arrived...you just don't find that kind of customer service anymore. Beautiful room (we stayed in Mavericks), gorgeous view, lovely beach. We will definitely be back!

This bed and breakfast is marvelous . Love love love the rustic beach decor ( I'm glad it's not the typical nautical team I used to see on beach houses ) . The sounds of the waves and cool breeze of air is unsurpassed the moment you open your patio door . The only thing tho is that the staff Is not so attentive. I've been to some B&B in the past , and compared to this , this probably need a little more smile in their faces and more personal touch to their services. Other than that , we had a wonderful time , our timing was perfect , clear skies , mild breeze , yummy breakfast .... Perfection ! Well, almost .

Reviewing two different stays, both great experiences! We received an email offer for 50% off Sunday though Thursday....and wanted a little getaway. We live only 45 minutes away, so hmb offers a little overnight getaway, without having to drive too far. We stayed in one of the bottom floor rooms in the building directly across the street....great room! Ocean view balcony, jacuzzi tub, two tvs, amenities galore...this is the room we stayed for our first stay...we had a three yr old with us and there was an open floor plan, which allowed for us to create a little sleeping nook for him on the couch. Most recent stay was in the Naples room, in the building across the parking lot from the main building. second floor room, partial ocean view from various windows. Big soaking tub with bubbling jets, small balcony, but enough for two. Our most recent trip we had two kids and it worked out just fine. Breakfast was made to order French toast with peaches and crime. everything else was pretty standard and the same as our last stay...juices, smoothies, coffee, sausage, fruit, etc. Wine hour is your average reception layout, cheap wine, crackers and cheese...but hey it's included i the rate, might as well take advantage. Would recommend taking a walk on the trail by the beach.

I've had the pleasure of staying in some great B&B's up and down the CA coast. This one has a super location and great ocean view (which did cost a bit more), but that was about it. It lacked the character that many other B&Bs have. The staff was polite but didn't really go out of their way. The bathroom was clean, but the tub was small and there was a lingering smell when we arrived which required febrezing. Overall it was ok, but not a great value in my book. When next in 1/2moonbay, we will be looking to stay elsewhere.

This spot is quite pricy but definitely worth it. First thing I notice is how cute the sign is and also how very very close it is to the beach! Literally a thirty second walk! The beach itself is small, flat, lovely, and not very busy which is such a plus! The room was magnificent, spa bathtub in the middle of the room and right next to the personal little deck that overlooks beach. The shower was small but had perfect water pressure and the robes were so comfortable! It had an electric fireplace that switched on and it was very cozy. Oh and I almost forgot, the bed was the nicest bed I have ever had the pleasure to sleep on! What really made it the best was the staff, they were all very sweet and pleasant they offered free wine and cheese at night, the man at the front desk even invited my friend and I into his kitchen to look at the pie they were going to serve for desert. Just one night here and I felt completely rejuvinated :) 100% Yes!

So We went and stayed here, 2 adults and a 7 year old, comfortably fit in the queen bed in Point Montara, The Inn Keeper showed us to our room and made us feel at home, the view was great from the jacuzzi and great from the room, it was a partial view which was impressive to say the least, I must say I think the people who complained about the location must be snobs. I can only say that this is the one bed and breakfast that actually had abundance in towels , pillows(which we normally bring our own) and had a number of luxery items. Now I will say it doesn't have a microwave in room, but I found that with the Breakfast that is a nice made to order item, plus yogurt, fruit and toast and crossiants, the Appetizer and wine bar and the dessert time, I didn't find myself having to eat out more then once a day which also i have to say factored in to the Bed and Breakfast cost. You can stay cheaper but what your missing out on, is great food, location, pleasant room settings and the comfort of laying in your bed and not worrying about your car getting broke into. So do yourself a favor and don't go cheap. Enjoy yourself.

This review is actually long overdue. My fiancee and I who only see each other a weekend a month wanted somewhere special to spend a weekend. And we were NOT disappointed. I rarely give out 5 stars, but this place really deserved it. I was a little worried when booking the room, as I found mixed reviews online. Most saying how dated the rooms were. I booked what I believe was called "Las Nubes". It was on the second floor of the main building which a huge window facing the ocean. Sure helped that it was a beautiful AND sunny weekend in Half Moon Bay. So rare! The room was very spacious and the wall facing the ocean is almost one huge window. Beautiful. There was a fireplace in the room and a jacuzzi tub as well. The bathroom wasn't the most modern, but was clean and a good size. Decor was fine and simple. You sure don't want to detract from that view! Seemed to be a textile kind of theme in the room. It also had tile floors. You couldn't beat the view nor the sound of the waves crashing below. We kept the windows open all night! I booked a package that came with champagne and chocolate to surprise my fiancee. The front desk said to call when we were about 20 minutes away so they could set it in the room. They were concerned about the ice in the bucket melting. How nice is that?! We enjoyed sitting on the private patio adjascent to the room watching the sun set and sipping on champagne. We also had breakfast there the next morning. Wonderful smoothies and fresh fruit. They do have various items you can choose from though. Unfortunately we missed the wine reception, but in dealing with the owner, we realized the customer service couldn't be beat. Very much looking forward to returning.

What a treasure. My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights for our honeymoon and wow, what an amazing location. We stayed in Las Nubes, a lovely room that had windows to the beach outside. We fell asleep at night listening to the crash of the waves on the beach. There was a wonderful fireplace that warmed up the cool evenings. The breakfasts were homemade and delicious, plus the wine and appetizers were a great way to start the night. We are huge fans, and would love to stay for a vaca or a getaway.

If you're considering staying at Cypress Inn don't wait, book it. The staff is great! Everything you could hope for really. I can't imagine a more romantic beach front b&b that compares in every aspect. We can't wait to come back again :)

Things were really awesome here. And then there were one or two things that really changed the mood. We ended up in a swanky top floor room, that sat about 20 to 30 meters from the shore. You could really hear the waves crashing even from that distance well into the late night. The room came equipped with an extra small, but sexy tub for hootchie making and a wall covered in mirrors for your own porno. If you were good at editing, the large LCD tv (with cable) would be a great tool to view your work. The one thing that really changed everything, was that our gigantic bed consisted of two mattresses pushed together. So about halfway through the night, the mattresses ended up separating and we would both find ourselves on top of each other. That was cool and all; except at that depth, you couldn't move a leg or an arm to do anything. Once I was in, I had a hard time getting out. The breakfast was all well intentioned, but it could have been more robust. The freshly made smoothies were super sweet, and I could have had more of that.

I would give the Cypress Inn five stars if the patio/balcony walls were low enough for one to sit and enjoy the view of the ocean. The walls are about 4-feet tall, meaning if you sit on the patio, all you see is wall. I'm guessing they're that high for privacy, since there is a walkway right outside the room....but as it is, we didn't use the patio much b/c it just wasn't comfortable to stand there and soak in the view. The room itself was nice and came equipped with a fireplace, iron, hairdryer, fan, flashlight, television. The shower worked wonderfully and the bed was pretty comfortable. At 5:30 in the evening, the innkeeper puts out a spread of appetizers and wine, and then dessert at 7:30. Breakfast was good, with the much-appreciated option of having it delivered to the room. Overall, I would definitely stay here again, but will probably first try the inn down the street, mainly because it has balconies that enable one to sit and enjoy the view.

We stayed here for our wedding night 12 years ago. Back then, I would have given a 5-star rating. My wife and I were very excited to stay here again on a recent weekend away from home. Unfortunately, this stay was nothing like what I remembered from our previous stay. Generally speaking, for the price we paid, the quality of the room was not up to par. I realize the location is great, but the room needs to be great too. Specifically, the bathroom is old and in need of updating (we stayed in Mavericks). There was black mold on the ceiling of the shower (we highlighted this to the manager as we checked out). That's gross. The tile was in a bit of disrepair, the mirrors on the walls were tacky and the toilet leaked unless you jiggled the handle after every flush. The main part of the room was ok, but some of the furniture was dated, and the carpet was worn. We also hurt our feet when we stepped on carpet tack bars in a couple of areas (also noted to the manager). The first time we stayed here in 2000, we had the most amazing breakfast. It is one of the things we remembered most about our experience (my wife still remembers a fresh peach french toast). This time, breakfast was disgusting. I am pretty sure they are now using prepared foods instead of cooking to order. I could be wrong, but that is probably one of the worst breakfasts I have had. So, again, if I had paid $200 for the room, I might be willing to overlook some of the shortcomings. At $435 for the room, I will probably not return and try to find somewhere different next time. Kudos to the manager though, when she asked how our stay was, I explained to her some of the issues we encountered and she offered us a partial refund. I appreciated that, but it's probably not enough for us to want to go back again.

If you're considering booking Cypress Inn...... just book it! The staff members are extremely kind and helpful, the rooms are beautiful, setting tranquil and romantic, what is not to like? My husband and I recently stayed in the Big Sur room for our Christmas getaway. It has a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and ocean view. We could hear the ocean waves crashing against the beach all night :) We got complimentary wine and were just a little late for Hors d'oeuvres and desert. We did get a very good breakfast delivered to our room the next morning though. We can't wait to go back!!

I like to go camping and my GF doesn't, but we both love the ocean. In her twisted little mind this was a compromise. This is far from my idea of roughing it. I guess since there was no flat screen TV, the carpet was a little worn, and the couch had definately seen better days, that she felt we were damn near sleeping under the stars. (You must remember the Cypress Inn is right off the beach so the sand and salt water reck havoc on fabrics). We stayed in the Point Reyes, it has a terrance with a semi view due to trees. For me this was no big deal because the beach is literally only 20 feet away directly across the street, which is perfect for a midnight stroll. All in all the Cypress Inn is a very romantic and intimate with it's over-sized jacuzzi tub, gas fire place, and terrance. The trees that obstruct your view also protect you're privacy. It was a quite chilly night but still no way you could possibly leave the fireplace on without openning the windows, but their was no way you could leave the windows open without leaving the fire place on and wrapping up under the covers which promotes snuggling, they have it all figured out. There is also a masseuse that will come to your room, but she was overbooked so I wasn't able to take advantage of it. You must visit the great little coffee shop right down the street, that's perfect if you want to grab a quick tea or coffee and sit a few, maybe read a book, newspaper, or surf the web. All in all this is the perfect get away spot!!!

Cute, cute place. Stayed here for one night back in 2007 and I was impressed, because I've always been hesitant to stay at a B&B. I think what I loved best about my room was the balcony, because I was so close to the beach. If I looked down, it was the one or two lane road, then the sand, then the water. I loved the jets in the huge tub, although out of courtesy for other guests possibly in the room below me, I couldn't enjoy it past a certain time. It was nice that I was able to soak in the tub while watching the NLCS on TV. Comfy bed, small but impressive bathroom. The food I liked best was the yummy eggs benedict I had before checking out, and it's nice that I had the option of bringing food back into my room, but I didn't feel like carrying a tray of food across the street from the main house back to where my room was like I did the night before. Nice and quaint, check it out.

We booked the Point Montara room with a partial ocean view; it was more like 'no ocean' view at all. With the excessive tree branches that blocked our view from our balcony, it was pretty much a 'you could've seen this view" type of glimpse. We have stayed at the Inn at Depot Hill in Capitola and the Cypress falls short of the decor and amenities. Cypress Inn's god awful drapes were an eyesore. Looked more or less like Motel 6. The room and the bathroom felt small so the pictures on their website are very deceiving. Although the feather queen bed was nice and fluffy. The TV was a joke. The fireplace was meh. We couldn't even feel the heat because it was barricaded with a plastic screen. So we ended up not using it after the first night. It defeated the purpose of having it on; unlike our room at the Inn at Depot Hill, we felt the heat from our psuedo-fireplace. I don't think I'd want to come back and stay here again. It seems like there are other bed and breakfast places that are worthy than this inn. Aside from steps away from the beach and in walking distance of the Miramar restaurant, it was tough writing this review. I really wanted to like this place. Sorry, it just didn't make the cut.

I stayed at Cypress Inn a little over a year ago with my then fiance. We were in San Francisco for a few days on a spontaneous trip (We live in Austin, TX) and found this place after having a bad experience with Air BnB. We took a long drive down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz the first morning we arrived, and after the Air BnB debacle we needed to find a nice place to stay. I happened upon Cypress Inn while googling Bed & Breakfasts. When we called they were really nice, and had a suite that was available. We booked it and headed that way. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was HUGE, with a king size feather bed (warm and so comfortable), a fire place, a huge jacuzzi bath opposite the bed in the room, and a separate bathroom with a shower. Our room (The Lighthouse Room) was on the first floor of the building to the left of the main house. It had a small balcony that opened up to the ocean. THE OCEAN! It was amazing. It was mid November, and it was a little chilly out, but not bad. We slept with the balcony door open so we could listen to the ocean, and the fire place kept the room warm enough. The breakfast we ordered the night before was delivered on a tray to us in the morning. You also have to option of eating in the main house with the other guests. In the evening they have a fruit and cheese tray, a warm appetizer and plenty of wine to enjoy. There is also a station set up where you can get coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate. Yum. We liked it so much we ended up booking another night and not heading back into San Francisco until our last night. They have an in house massage therapist that we indulged in. She wasn't overpriced as they can be in places like this. As a former massage therapist, I felt she could have been better, but over all it was still relaxing, and I loved that her room was on the top (3rd) floor of the main house with an open window. ...Ahhh, the sound of the ocean, I just love it! Just writing this very long overdue review makes me want to book another weekend stay!

We love this place - they often have 50 or 60 percent off specials Sun. thru Thurs. that we take advantage of - I am not sure if I would give it 5 stars if we had to pay full price. Some of the stuff is a little dated - our favorite room is El Sol in the main house. It has a vaulted ceiling & is relatively large. The inn's location is unique and fabulous - I have searched on the internet but cannot find another oceanfront B & B in Northern California (other than Landis Shores two blocks away, which is also nice) where you can literally hear the waves crashing like you are on the beach.

Simply, simply delightful. My fiancee and I were looking for a one-night getaway and we found it in HMB. This was our first stay at Cypress but it certainly will not be our last. We got the last room available for the night - La Estrella - on the first floor of the main building. I think every room comes with an ocean view - La Estrella certainly does - and we were lulled to sleep with sounds of the ocean waves crashing against the beach. Part of the attraction I had to this place was that the pictures on the website don't show some wack grandmother-type interior decorator room with an 1850's quilt comforter (no offense to those places or people who like that kind of stuff) thrown on a bed with other knick knacks hanging from walls, displayed on bookshelves, or sitting on nightstands. The decoration is Spanish-influenced, with heated Spanish tiles (according to the website). I expected to find hot tiles but they were just average temperature - neither hot nor cold. But speaking of hot, our room came equipped with a gas fireplace that comes on with the flick of a switch. Lest I forget, they feed you - which is why I still attempt to find an attractive-looking B&B despite many out there that have such gawdy decorations. Last night, we feasted on wine, cheese, and veggies - 5-7 p.m. - and then homemade desserts from 7-9 p.m. Last night's dessert was chocolate dipped strawberries - OMG - I was in heaven! In the morning, they serve breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Today, we were treated to eggs florentine to order (courtesy of Gayle), smoked chicken sausage with apple, fruit salad, granola, various juices, bagels, and another OMG - the croissants. Here's a whole paragraph devoted just to the croissants here... Mmm. My mouth is watering just thinking about the crisp, flaky, warm/hot croissants that they keep on a heated plate. I had, oh, maybe 10 (shared of course!). Apparently, they get them frozen from a place in Union City (that's when I remembered I was not that far away from home), set them out overnight to rise, and then bake them in the morning. Ooh la la. After breakfast, we went for a nice long walk on a path devoted to bicyclists and pedestrians, right next to the water and beach area. All in all, a wonderful, relaxing stay and highly recommended. Btw, they offer a 10% discount to AAA members.

All I can say is wow!! The hubster and I hadnt had any R&R since before we got married. Throw the kids in the mix and you can fugadaboutit.. However, were lucky to squeak away for two nights. I loved this place.. From the wonderful music playing to yummy appetizers and wine... oh yeah and did I mention dessert. The folks that run the place really know how to make you feel welcome and appreciated. We even got a room upgrade to an ocean front for less $ a night. You cannot beat that. The wifi worked.. everything was clean clean clean and you cannot get closer to the ocean unless you are swimming in it. I am sooooooo glad we didnt go to the Oceano and went here instead. Perfect couples get away. I am sure we will return for years to come. Long live the Cypress Inn!!!!!

Visited Cypress in November of 2009 and appreciated all it had to offer. Stayed in El Sol with the slider open all night to hear the ocean and trust me November is THE TIME to come! Jack was very nice and took care of our every request. We did not eat any more than the breakfast one day of 3 that we stayed and it was nice to have a warm fresh cooked meal in the am with no hang ups. A bit more than I would like to spend but much worth the price. My now fiance and I have considered it for our wedding party on our wedding weekend but unfortunately they are booked completely by another wedding party... go figure! Cheers to romance in HMB! Spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. Slept with the sliding glass door open all night so we could hear the waves crashing outside. We were in the "Montero" room and it was really nice, but next time I want to spring for a room that has a full-on ocean view. The bed was super comfortable, down comforter and a feather bed. Nice, clean Jacuzzi tub right in the middle of the room--awesome. One thing that made me nervous before we got there was their website says all rooms have "a TV and VCR" VCR??? I was worried that the whole place was going to be dated and gross when I read that, BUT our room had a huge flat screen TV and DVD player, SO...their website needs to be updated! The place is super clean, they have wine and appetizers at night in the main building, and in the morning they will bring you your breakfast to your room! We had a great time here!

Well, my husband and I are getting ready to celebrate 15 wonderful years together, so I decided to surprise him with a really nice bed and breakfast type of Inn. Neither he nor I have ever done this, so you can imagine my surprise when I got there and realized our room was HUGE with a spa Jacuzzi tub right next to the bed. Oh my yes....enough room for two! :) *naughty grin* This place was fantastic. I got the bigger room off the main house, thus, the reason for the spa tub. This room had a delicious bed with nice sheets and patio that overlooked the ocean. It was a dream! The room came with a huge king bed, spa tub, coffee maker, mini bar fridge, sofa and big screen TVs. It also has the lavatory and shower separate from the rest of the room, which makes it nice when you want more privacy. After check in from being greeted by the warm and friendly folks at the desk, you are told you will be able to have h'orderves and wine between 5 and 7 and dessert served promptly at 7:30. I didn't expect all that! I made reservations at a local pasta restaurant called PASTA MOON and boy was it a treat. Best Italian so far. Want the best lasagna ever? Try it. Ladies, half plate is more than enough. After the wonderful dinner, we skedaddled back to the main house for free dessert. A variety of sweets and treats are well as coffee, tea, juice, citrus water and coco. Met a wonderful young couple and really enjoyed ourselves sitting by the fire. We retired to our room for a little "quite time" and enjoyed the view from our patio. Great for sipping wine! The next morning we awoke to breakfast in bed. Yes, they delivered breakfast right to our room which consisted of fresh french toasted topped with fruit and fresh cream. A full course meal in itself. Later, we walked up the beach enjoying the view. Sorta hated we only spent one night there. Will do this again next year!

Very happy with the stay here. The bed was extremely comfortable and the area was extremely quaint. I loved walking to the bar down the road with my girl and enjoying some jazz piano. The view at Naples beach was far from perfect but still very romantic. The food wasn't exceptional but still very pleasant to have in the room. Overall we loved the area and very much enjoyed the luxuriousness of our room.

Stayed the nite after dinner at Miramar Beach Restaurant. Our room, La Luna, so appropriately called because when I woke up at 3:30 am, the moon peeked through the foggy sky and left some shadow on the water. It was magical. Unfortunately, before we settle for the evening and try to turn on the fireplace it was not working. We ended up using an electric heater, which caused the electric to trip when I use the hair dryer in the morning The breakfast spread was great. We had crab florentine poached egg with hollandaise sauce over English muffin. Among the spread were bagels with cream cheese and jam, fruit salad, cereals and one the best tasting smoothie I ever had. In addition it is on a mile and a half walk/bike trail along the beach A perfect weekend retreat just half hour away from the hustle bustle of the city

Great service, along with ok food. Sadly for the price, the rooms really suck. It felt like a Motel 6; old and run down. Furniture was cheap and some of it was stained, some windows wouldn't fully close or lock (it was raining outside), fireplace was a joke, I can go on... I should have booked something like a Sofitel instead. (The pictures are somewhat misleading unless you can book that specific room.) Other places in Half moon bay are better.

First of all, it was a bit difficult to find the place. MapQuest gave a street name, and when we got there, we found the street washed away. Eventually we found the road that got us to the Inn. We stayed in the Lighthouse Building. Not impressed. The bathroom was gorgeous, and the bed was certainly comfortable... but the wind and the waves were so loud! A storm came in (we were there in April) and actually got water in the room though the balcony doors were shut. I think the gaping at the door was responsible for the god-awful whistling that night too. I mean, you're in HMB, an ocean-view room is easy to come by- so don't let that be the only reason you stay here.

Great little place right off the beach up the coast from Half Moon Bay. Innkeeper Reg and the rest of the staff made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Nice wine service in early evening and a full spread for breakfast in the morning. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a fireplace, jet tub and a very good view of the coastline given this was a room with a "partial ocean view." Would definitely visit again.

We stayed here for a romantic getaway. We have stayed at Inn at Depot Hill in Capitola which is the same chain of Inns. Our room had a great balcony overlooking the ocean, but Cypress was not quite as nice as Depot Hill as far as the decorating of the rooms, etc...I like the ambience of the theme rooms at Depot Hill. Most of the rooms at Cypress are ALL WHITE with no real character, and don't seem as well maintained. BUT, all in all we DID enjoy our stay, mostly because of the OCEAN at our back door!!!

Just got back from a night in "El Viento" at the Cypress Inn. I have both positive and negative things to say. Negative: A few unfortunate things about our room: it was painted pink.....maybe this bothered us more than the average person because we just demolitioned our pink bathroom...who knows. The smoke detector was also removed from our ceiling for some reason....not sure why. We could hear every footstep of our upstairs neighbors, too. Positive: free food and location! We enjoyed the wine and cheese hour, as well as the breakfast - those flaky croissants ARE delish, and I don't even really like croissants normally! The special was pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream - yummers. We also enjoyed being on the water, and took full advantage of the very very long walking path along the coast. Positive/negative - waves. Now, the sound of waves crashing can be super cool, yes. But for some reason, they were EXTRA loud, and there were some people partying out on the beach well into the night, so their yelling combined with the extra loud waves was kind of annoying. We sadly closed the sliding door, but then the room got too stuffy, so we had to crack it open again. Not really the Cypress Inn's fault, but it was a part of our experience. Overall, I think I might go again, but I'd want to try a different room, if only to get away from the dreaded pink walls.

My husband and I just stayed at the Cypress Inn for our 10 year anniversary. We had a WONDERFUL time. The room we stayed in, was in the "lighthouse" building of the B&B. It had a deck with full ocean view, gas fireplace, couch, cafe table and chairs, desk, TV, phone, jacuzzi tub for two, king bed (that was actually very comfortable with comfortable bed linens as well), and a large bathroom with glass shower stall. They even had the extras on hand.. mini fridge with coffee, creamer, tea, sugar, bottled water (all complimentary), a fan for warm days to use in room, extra pillows, blanket, and throw blanket for cooler evenings, cozy clean robes, hair dryer, spa bath amenities, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you could possibly need! The room was very cozy and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to check in by 1pm and have a late check out of 1pm the next day. We stayed for one night and did the "romance package". The package included champagne (it wasn't Dom but it was a mid range "decent enough to drink" brand), locally made truffles (which were very good), and a $75 gift certificate to our choice of local restaurants. One of the restaurants was Mirimar Beach Restaurant and is within walking distance. The one we chose was Moss Beach Distillery which is still only about a 3-5 mile drive away, if that. The other wonderful services that were provided were a 2 hour evening offering of snacks and wine between 5-7pm. Then between 7-8pm there was dessert. We didn't make it for the wine but we did go down and pick up dessert later that evening. It was a brownie and your choice of hot chocolate, coffee, or hot tea. It was very good. Last but not least, we were offered a full breakfast the next morning. During all of these opportunities to socialize and eat, you are welcome to do just that or you are also welcome to pick up a tray and slink off to your room for alone time. The morning breakfast we had was very good and consisted of eggs Benedict with ham, tomato, avocado on an english muffin, chicken and apple sausage links, fresh seasonal fruit bowl, various cereals (not the kiddie type), choice of bread, and choice of 3 fresh squeezed juices. You could also still get the staple coffees, teas, and cocoa. The breakfast was tasty and prepared upon our arrival. I didn't opt to make changes to my meal but I did hear another guest ask for scrambled eggs with ham instead and they happily obliged. The only thing that didn't go as smoothly as planned, and I should say this was only a small inconvenience, was the delivery of our champagne and truffles to our room. I guess the manager is the one with a key to the liquor storage and so even though we requested that the champagne be delivered immediately after arrival, they had to wait until he was available to allow them into the storage before they could make delivery. It was only a mild annoyance and something that was partially due to our early arrival and check-in time. All in all, I would recommend this place to my friends and family, in fact I am booking my parents in for a night this Christmas. I will be back as soon as possible myself. This is not a Grandma's house type of B&B, this is much more like a nice hotel with some opportunities to socialize with other guests. OH OH OH and the best part of all of this... granted it is the off season but STILL.... -Room with every amenity for 1 night -Champagne and Truffles delivered to the room -$75 gift cert. for dinner at nice restaurant -hot tub -comfy bed -waves crashing outside your room -complimentary evening wine, snacks, dessert, and full breakfast PRICELESS but actually the real total : $288.40 with tax The only extra money we spent was on dinner as we ordered very expensive items and also had drinks. The $75 dollars went more than half way toward the bill though. HOWEVER, I would suggest for those of you who decide to do the romance package... order cheaper, bring your own wine to the room, and use the extra money that you saved on dinner to get an in-room massage. I believe a half hour session was only $55! Have fun and happy travels!

Had a great relaxing weekend here- our room was in the main building 2nd floor, right on the water. It felt like we were thousands of miles away from home, when this cozy inn is actually about a 25 minute drive from my house. The breakfasts in the morning were great, as were the wine and cheese in the afternoons and the awesome desserts after 7. Being in the main building, we woke up to the smells of breakfast cooking, roasted garlic in the afternoon, and chocolate brownies in the evening. Our room was really comfortable, with a plush bed and a cozy fireplace. It was nice relaxing on the furniture watching the sunset out of our ocean view. My only complaint was that the heated tiles seemed to be on the entire time and kept our room pretty hot at night, so much that we had to open our window a couple times. Probably our fault though because we were too lazy to ask them to turn it down. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again.

The most romantic spot ever! What impressed us the most about our room, Las Nubes, was that we felt like we were part of the ocean. The view does not get better than that. The fireplace in our room kept us very cozy as the night cooled down, the whirlpool kept us relaxed, the terrace let us enjoy the ocean breeze during the day and the amazing starry sky at night. The staff was extremely accommodating; they greeted us with a cute happy anniversary note and granted us an early check in and late check out without a problem. We enjoyed the freshly cooked to order pancakes and the breakfast buffet. The evening wine reception and dessert were heart-warming. We highly recommend this as a romantic getaway destination.
